BMC Software this morning announced that it has acquired Aeroprise, which provides a mobility solution for BMC’s Remedy IT Service Management Suite. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

With support for iPhone, iPad, BlackBerry, Android and Windows Mobile devices, Aeorprise’s solution helps enterprises and governments provide rapid access to IT service management functionality on the go via mobile applications for service desk, change, asset, service catalog and request management with support from on-premise and SaaS-based deployments.

Valens Semiconductor, a provider of semiconductor products for the distribution of high-definition multimedia content and the inventor of the HDBaseT technology, this morning announced that it has raised $14 million in a Series B round of financing.

The capital injection comes from Taiwan-based Pegatron and Japan-based Mitsui & Co. Global Investment, new VC investors Amiti Ventures and Aviv Venture Capital as well as previous backers Genesis Partners and Magma Venture Partners.

Citrix today announced two investments. The company is backing Graymatics, a stealth startup that is building a cloud platform for content-based analysis of video and other digital media, and Gizmox, the developer of the Visual WebGui web, cloud and mobile delivery platform.

The Graymatics investment marks the fourth funding commitment for the Citrix Startup Accelerator, the company’s Silicon Valley-based seed investment initiative, which launched in December 2010. The Gizmox investment is of greater strategic importance to Citrix.

ANSYS, which offers simulation software and technologies designed to optimize product development processes, has agreed to acquire Apache Design Solutions, a simulation software provider for low power solutions in the electronics industry. The purchase price is approximately $310 million in cash. The price includes an estimated $29 million in cash on Apache’s balance sheet. ANSYS intends to fund the transaction with cash on-hand from the combined organization.

The agreement also includes retention provisions and incentives for certain members of management and employees, earned over a three year period, including an additional $13 million of performance equity awards.

Basho Technologies, a data storage and management software startup serving the enterprise market, this morning announced that it has raised $7.5 million in Series D funding.

In addition, Basho announced that its board of directors has named Donald J. Rippert, long time CTO of Accenture, as the company’s new president and chief executive officer.

Oracle this morning announced that it has agreed to buy Pillar Data Systems, a privately-held provider of SAN Block I/O storage systems based in San Jose, California, which is said to serve nearly 600 customers across 24 countries. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

An interesting purchase, particularly since Pillar Data Systems is majority-owned by Oracle founder and CEO Larry Ellison through his venture capital firm Tako Ventures. According to a 2005 CRN article, Ellison invested over $150 million in the business.

SiliconBlue Technologies, which offers custom solutions for handset applications, including IP, design services as well as low-power, single-chip, CMOS SRAM mobileFPGA devices, has raised $18 million in Series D financing.

The capital injection comes from private equity firm Atlantic Bridge, with the existing group of investors including BlueRun Ventures, Crosslink Capital, NEA and Apex Venture Partners all participating in the round.

ThingWorx, which provides a platform for the development of apps connecting people, systems and the physical world, this morning announced that it has acquired privately held, Rochester, NY-based Palantiri Systems, maker of the AlwaysOn software platform.

The combination of both companies, ThingWorx posits, will result in a single company that it says will “represent the catalyst for the next stage of the ‘connected device’ revolution”.

NYSE-listed SolarWinds, a provider of IT management software solutions, has agreed to acquire TriGeo, a privately-held vendor of log and event management software, for $35 million in cash.

TriGeo, founded in 2001, offers solutions to IT organizations for the collection of of data from virtually any device on their network and the ability to correlate that data in real-time, enhancing security and control.

ScaleXtreme, a vendor of cloud-based systems management products, this morning announced it has landed $11 million in Series B funding in a round led by Ignition Partners with participation from previous backer Accel Partners.

Frank Artale, managing director at Ignition, will join the board that includes Ping Li from Accel and ScaleXtreme’s Nand Mulchandani and Balaji Srinivasa.
